A Swan's Sweet Song by J. Arlene Culiner is a contemporary romance that takes two seasoned and mature characters who are opposites and asks what happens when they fall in love. Sherry is a hard working, determined woman who pulled herself out of poverty and jumped into the limelight as a country western singer. She's busy traveling across the country, always surrounded by her fans, paparazzi, and wannabe groupies. Her life is loud, fast, and always moving. Carston is the complete opposite. He's a playwright who cherishes the quiet, enjoys spending time alone in the woods, and the peace of his home environment. He doesn't want a long term relationship, but when he and Sherry meet, the instant attraction is hard to deny. Carston isn't necessarily against a passionate fling. Until their names are paired together in a press scandal, and suddenly Sherry's plans to become an actress are flaunted in front of the whole country. Are opposite personalities too much to overcome? Or can this pair of passionate lovers unite in their differences?

A Swan's Sweet Song tells the love story of two characters who find romance later in life (in their forties), which will appeal to specific readers who enjoy this type of romance with older, more mature main characters. The story is delightful and what it lacks in steam and sexiness it makes up for in pure entertainment. The connection between the two characters was well written and very realistic so readers will really come to love these characters and the story. Nice job!
