By Romancing the Book

Leslie-Anne Farrandon, a former journalist, is living comfortably and safely as Anne Pierson, an archeologist in Karakuyu, Turkey. In her attempt to escape a sordid past and find peace in a strange land of rigid social beliefs, Anne finds herself instead enveloped in accusations of the theft of priceless finds as well as the danger of falling in love with the undeniable and dangerous charms of the new site director Renaud Townsend. After her last failed love affair, Anne has sworn off men and avoids romance at all costs. When Mike Benson, the site director Townsend has come to replace and the man with whom Anne is accused of having an affair, is discovered murdered, Anne finds herself paired unexpectedly with the irresistible Renaud in an attempt to prove their innocence in a recent round of thievery.

Author J. Arlene Culiner does not disappoint in this fast-paced novel, The Turkish Affair. Glittering descriptions, magical settings, and enviable characters bring the solemn grounds of Turkey to life as we are planted firmly in an archeological dig in Karakuyu, Turkey. Culiner's mastery of the English language and sentence combinations forms an enchanting read. The Turkish Affair is the perfect distraction for the gloom of a winter evening or spending a sunny day at the beach. As the main character struggles to balance a professional attitude with the pull of her heartstrings, the reality of her situation relays memories of personal experiences or hopes of future love. The Turkish Affair is a must-read for all lovers of romance and adventure.
